Two-set Procrustes problems—generalities

J. C. Gower, Garmt Dijksterhuis · Oxford University Press eBooks · 2004

This chapter is concerned with the two-set Procrustes problem in its one-sided form and in its two-sided form. It starts by discussing two-set criteria with general forms of T. It also considers problems of translating X1 and X2, pointing out that in this book, it is nearly always assumed that X1 and X2 are translated to a common origin, which is most conveniently achieved by arranging that both matrices have zero column sums.
