Assembling the QA/Test Team
JOSE FAJARDO, Elfriede Dustin · 2012
This chapter asserts the importance of understanding the skills needed and identifying and screening the “right” resources for SAP testing and quality assurance (QA). The test manager and project manager need to recruit testing resources based on defined roles and skill sets that are suitable for the tasks at hand. These may include understanding SAP implementations, strategizing, and planning for effective testing, and planning for different types of testing efforts with manual and automated test case execution. An SAP project may need both a QA team and a testing team or a team that combines the skills sets from both QA and testing. QA is a role that helps define and enforce the standards that will be used to configure and develop the system. Projects in heavily regulated environments or subject to audits may need both QA and test team resources. However, projects with limited budget but with a consistent approach across all project teams for producing deliverables and work products may need only the presence of a testing team. SAP testing and QA resources are needed as soon as the project preparation phase is commenced for initial SAP implementations.
