Having decided upon a specific instrument to make an impedance measurement it is important to utilise fully the facilities available. To do this the essential is to know the basic method of measurement employed. Reference to the handbook is always worthwhile before using an unfamiliar instrument. There are many forms of impedance measuring bridges and in this chapter the general principles will be discussed and some common pitfalls examined.
