Establishing the Model Environment

William Preinitz, Matthew Niedermaier · 2012

Establishing a directory environment is neither laborious nor mentally taxing. The delineation and early establishment of a directory structure to hold our models and their supporting files is extremely important! This chapter designs and implements the directory environment to accommodate the new models once they are written. It also creates other portions of the environment to accommodate the sources of data, the template files of the reports, and preservation and organization of all of the output of the model. Learning to create new and different applications, or creating new features and capabilities within the context of existing models, is an exercise that proves valuable. The responsibility for undertaking an incremental or substantial enhancement to new or existing models is a circumstance that finds in over and over again.
