As previous chapters have shown, a paper-and-pencil approach is essential to drawing value stream maps. This approach can be complemented by transferring paper maps to electronic models for clarity, ease of sharing, archiving, and ease of calculation. I am grateful to Dilesh Patel for the contribution of this chapter’s information about using a software tool (eVSM) designed for this purpose.
