Analyzing Dynamic Faces: Key Computational Challenges
Pawan Sinha · The MIT Press eBooks · 2010
This chapter discusses several computational aspects and challenges that are associated with the analysis of dynamic faces, which is an interesting frontier in face perception research. An important role can be played by computational simulation in examining how motion contributes to face perception by providing indications of how feasible it is to bring out different attributes from real-world video data. Representation of dynamic facial information is another computational challenge, and it can be met by finding view-based encoding of the face, which can propose representation consistent with human psychophysical performance. The chapter concludes that the question of representing dynamic faces has not yet been examined properly, and that one computationally attractive idea is to encode a temporally extended appearance model via key frames.
