Measurement of the Parameters of the Varactor

G. Marechal · 1973

The manufacturers of low-frequency varactors are often sparing with precise particulars: it is seldom possible to have available the values of the different parameters and their stability and tolerances. A knowledge of these data is essential for the production of a reliable and reproducible amplifier. This position, coupled with the simple desire to check the guaranteed performance, makes it essential to measure the different quantities Is, a, G s , R s , C 0v , ϕ, n, C c . We have seen in Chapter 11 that operation in low frequency of a given varactor is only approximately characterized by equations (13.2) and (13.4), or by (13.1) and (13.3).
