So far in this book, you’ve seen many examples of Flex applications that work with client-side data; that is, data stored inside the application. While it’s useful to be able to work with this type of data, it’s not a very flexible approach. Every time you need to update the data, you have to modify the Flex application and recompile the SWF file.
