If you have already had some experience of using computers and of programming them in some other language, you will wish to skip to Chapter 2 where Pascal really starts. On the way, you might like to glance at the section at the end of this chapter headed ‘Software’, because the method used to translate a Pascal source into an executable program is often different from that of other languages.□
