The Constructive Nature of Scene Perception

This chapter discusses the constructive nature of scene perception involving different brain regions which allows the meaningful experience of the visual world. It shows how the distinct regions play a complementary role in representing the scene at the visuostructural, perceptual integration, and memory levels. It concludes that multiple brain regions play distinctive functions in representing different properties of scenes, and the PPA, RSC, and LOC areas represent a continuum of specialized processing for spatial properties, from navigational features.
