We mentioned in an earlier chapter that Cloud-based services are more than just outsourced application hosting. There is substantial technology innovation that makes the delivery of Cloud services feasible at relatively low price points. Some of the key technology innovations have to do with optimizing the utilization of computing resources, optimizing data storage and retrieval, information backup and replication, ensuring security of information and so on.
