This chapter reviews some technologies that interact to form a distributed Web application. The following technology briefings are intended as refreshers rather than primers. So many technologies are involved in a distributed Web application that no one can be master of them all. If you are already familiar with the technologies, feel free to skip any or all sections; if the concepts are brand new to you, check out some of the reference links for introductory material.
