Word processors are used because they not only provide more elegant solutions to the age-old problems of error correction and making extra copies but they can be made to perform lots of other clever tricks as well. For example, some word processors allow you to merge a list of names and addresses with a standard letter so that you can manufacture personalised letters very quickly.
