Debugging Your Application

John Paul Mueller · 2012

The more complex the application, the greater the likelihood that it contains bugs. Bugs are likely to slip in unnoticed. IDEA provides tools to locate and squash bugs in the application. Bug removal is not automatic, but it is possible with a little time and effort using these tools. This chapter describes the kinds of bugs the users will encounter and the techniques that can be used to find them. Once found, fixing a bug is as simple as making a small change to the code. The chapter describes what bugs are and demonstrates debugging techniques. Debugging is one of those tasks that every application writer faces at some point and everyone seems to universally hate. Getting rid of bugs requires human insights and intuition.
