Elementary questions in Galois theory

Christian U. Jensen · 2019

A basic question in inverse Galois theory is to determine the structure of the absolute Galois group of a field K , i.e. Gal ( K s / K ), where K s is the separable closure of K. In particular, it is a central problem to describe the profinite groups that may be realized as the absolute Galois group of a field. A complete solution, which will probably involve some model theory, seems at present to be Utopian.
