Quality Assurance Standards

JOSE FAJARDO, Elfriede Dustin · 2012

This chapter focuses on the role of quality assurance (QA) teams in various testing efforts for maintaining QA standards and the recommended test system for each testing effort, providing definitions for each SAP testing phase from unit testing through system testing. QA managers must develop QA initiatives to support the project's scope statement and must have the approval of a project committee. Both test strategies and test plans need to be signed off and approved by the project's stakeholders. It is recommended that the configuration, development, integration, and Basis team leaders and the project manager sign off the test plan and test strategy. The test plan and strategy need to be stored in a version-controlled repository that is accessible to all testing participants. The software testing criteria identify critical conditions and measures necessary to start exit from or suspend testing for a designated testing effort. Testing criteria are defined and documented within the test plan and are constructed with the input from several project stakeholders. Testing requires test case templates that indicate the process that needs to be executed and the expected system behavior or system response after the test steps are executed.
