Planning a Cutover to a New Voice System
Thomas Osha · Auerbach Publications eBooks · 2021
This chapter provides people with the insight and methodology necessary to plan and execute the cutover to a new voice communications system in a smooth and seamless manner without causing communications interruption or confusion in people&s;s organization. Large scale voice systems are not impulse purchases. They are purchased for a reason, usually to satisfy a need, provide an application, or enable a company to communicate with its customers in a new way. The contract generates a due date, which is normally 30 to 120 days from the date of the contract. The best way to ensure that the hundreds of steps and details necessary to implement a new voice system are completed on time and in the proper order, is to hold an implementation kickoff meeting as soon as possible after the contract is signed. Network trunks are people&s;s voice system’s link to the outside world. Local trunks deliver dial tone and allow people to make and receive local calls.
