Probably the most common form of output device used is the VDU (often called a monitor). Almost every computer system includes a VDU, which can be used to show in human-understandable form not only the output from the processor, but the input which is necessary for the processor to work. It is not an input device: it just shows what has been entered and allows the operator to spot any mistakes.
