Proposed Microcomputer Based Distributed Packet Switching Network for the Steel Industry

CW Harrison · 1980

This paper comprises three main sections, the first outlines the background of digital communications within the steelworks plant and the motivation for introduction of a standardised communications network. The second outlines efforts made by the telecommunications authorities to produce an internationally standardised packet-switched network, culminating in C.C.I.T.T. Recommendation X.25. The third section details a proposal for implementation of an X.25 network using a custom microcomputer based switching node.
