Understanding IDEA Databases

John Paul Mueller · 2012

Databases are an essential part of every business today. Even a business that lacks computers has a database of some sort. A database is simply an organized method of storing related data. Databases on a computer are not quite the same as the table created on paper—they have very specific rules because computers require specific rules. This chapter discusses how computer databases are structured at an overview level and reviews some specifics about IDEA databases. The chapter explores database basics as they apply to computers. The main purpose of the chapter is to help and understand the structure that computers require to work with databases. It is important to work with a number of databases because many of the principles are not easy to understand if it is not practiced.
