2.1. Introduction. In subsequent chapters we shall present and discuss measurement and evaluation techniques, with examples of the application of these techniques to one particular computing system and with data gathered during the running of that system. A complete description of the system would run to hundreds or even thousands of pages, depending on the level of detail of the description.
