Program Control Structures

George Pruitt, John R. Hill · 2012

Through the use of program control structures, a program can make an informed decision. The programmer makes the computer intelligent by setting up the decision process and the consequences of the decision. Decision making is programmed through the use of if-then and if-then-else statements. These statements control which instructions are executed and which are not. The for loop and while loop statements are two program control structures that provide user with one of the great benefits of computers: the ability to do repetitive tasks quickly. Understanding how computer programs make decisions is vital to user's goals of accurately programming the analysis techniques.
