RDBMS Design and Implementation Tools

It was 2001 and since the dot-com bubble was completely deflated, budgets were tight. I was redesigning a claims-reimbursement system for a major insurance company in downtown Chicago and needed a good CASE tool. I mentioned that to my manager, and the blank look prompted me to explain what it does. “Well, can’t you use Word?” I explained that I couldn’t do what was needed using a word processor. The next question was whether there was any open source or “free” software available. It was surprising to see that a corporation ready to spend millions for consulting was not willing to spend a few thousand dollars for a necessary database tool. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
