Variant of BUBBLE Rap forwarding Algorithm for delay tolerant networks

Aditya K. Gupta, Aditya Agrawal, Preeti Nagrath · 2016

The research mentioned in this treatise proposes two hybrid approaches towards social networking in delay tolerant networks. The base assumed for the proposals is derived from the BUBBLE Rap forwarding which utilizes a greedy approach for providing a concrete social networking strategy. The proposals take the form of incorporation of knowledge based forwarding strategies namely, computation from the records of transmission paths and filtering mechanisms based on social network metrics for providing a space-time trade-off in favor of optimum buffer space usage. The first proposal makes use of probability computation which is used for finding the most optimum route when the message in a BUBBLE Rap reaches a destination community, instead of the use of `local ranking' system proposed under BUBBLE. While the second proposal, delineates an implementation of a reputation-based BUBBLE Rap which makes use of the social characteristics of a node for differentiating between nodes of conflicting ranking and thus promotes efficient use of the buffer space, by transmitting the message to the apt filtered node instead of replicating to both. The research discussed provides variations for optimizing the BUBBLE Rap forwarding Algorithm.
