Status Quo Review of Existing Testing Practices
JOSE FAJARDO, Elfriede Dustin · 2012
This chapter examines how establishing a successful SAP testing program requires determining what strengths and weaknesses the existing testing approach offers. Reviewing the status quo requires elimination of flawed testing practices and the furthering of successful practices. The status quo at most SAP installations is to interpret or define the intention of captured requirements, configure the system, develop advanced business application programming (ABAP) objects without code walk-through, rush or compress the testing schedule with project resources who are fillers or devoid of a testing background, transport objects into the production environment to meet project deadlines, and confront system defects through the production help desk. Centralized test teams are dedicated test teams whose main or only responsibilities are to maintain automated test tools, execute manual and automated test cases, report defects, design test cases, and enforce testing standards.
