The PC Element

Apress eBooks · 2009

When it comes to your computer’s usable life (well, the amount of time it will be useful to you), the only two things that matter are the hardware and the software. Both hardware and software grow old and become obsolete, but at extremely different rates. There are businesses still running or trying to run Windows 95-generation business software (such as QuickBooks 95) on Windows Vista desktops (a more than 12-year-old operating system’s software on the latest version of Microsoft’s operating system). And there are many home users who are trying to install and run Word 2007 software on their Windows 98 computer. It’s an unfair fact of life, but hardware and software do not grow old gracefully together like that sweet, old couple who lives a few houses down the road. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
