Devising the Shaping Strategy
Edward W. Merrow · 2012
This chapter illustrates how to lay out a process that will help understand where one is at any particular point in the development of the project, what critical activities, decisions, commitments, or events have not happened and how all this should be synchronized with the usual project work process. The chapter highlights how a final closure occurs and the many ways of achieving it. It further discusses the reasons for how shaping errors and omissions lead to failure. It explains the four forms of misconfigured projects that are more or less bound to end up being a major disappointment. The chapter concludes by presenting an example each of a successful opportunity shaping and an unsuccessful opportunity shaping.
