Collecting research data
Tony Cornford, Steve Smithson · 1996
Many projects will base their information gathering around the use of ‘fact finding’ or analysis techniques specific to information systems, including the techniques of software engineering requirements determination, structured systems analysis or soft systems methodology. These areas are not discussed in detail in this book since it is assumed that those undertaking such projects are familiar with them. In this chapter we discuss some of the techniques that may be less familiar or less formally understood, including searching and reviewing literature, developing questionnaires and undertaking interviews.
