bracNet: Bridging the Digital Divide – Covering Bangladesh with Wireless Broadband Access

Khalid Quadir sipped on his coffee at Crema Café near Harvard Square. He had just returned from a long trip around the world, meeting with potential business partners, and now, back in Cambridge, MA, he was reflecting on how it all started. He had founded bracNet 4 years ago with the mission of bringing broadband wireless internet access to his native Bangladesh. bracNet had made much progress since, but much more remained to be done. It still sounded very bold that a country which barely provided running water to all its citizens should soon possess comprehensive access to high-speed wireless internet. As he glanced over Cambridge, MA, he was reminded that this feat had not even been achieved here in the hub of technological development (near MIT and Harvard).
