Parallel Unstructured Mesh Generation Using Parallel Virtual Machine

Haiqing Si, Huiying Zong · MECS '15 Proceedings of the 2015 International Conference on Mechanical Engineering and Control Systems · 2015

A parallel unstructured mesh generation technique is studied using parallel virtual machine context in the paper. A static load-balancing strategy for computational domain decomposition is proposed here. After the whole computational domain is divided into several sub-domains, advancing-front grid generation technique is used to generate an unstructured grid in each sub-domain, separately. A new parallel Laplacian smoother technique is also implemented in order to have high quality mesh. Meshes for NACA0012 airfoil and cylinder are generated using the present parallel algorithm. Parallel efficiency and comparison are depicted in the tables for the different number of processors.
