Volumetric Mesh Progress by Improving the Surface Mesh Quality

This paper presents the improvements in the surface mesh quality and, consequently, in the finite element volumetric mesh when the planar facets triangulation is avoided during solid model generation. It also discusses some details and problems involving the implementation of this new approach. An example that illustrates the improvement obtained by the modifications is presented.
