Servo Systems for Third Generation NC Machine Tools

J. Zelený · 1974

Recently projected NC machines and machining centres for highly integrated and computerized production systems impose new requirements on performance and parameters of mechanical and control sub-groups. The paper presents some results and experience gained in VÚOSO, Prague during two years of systematic research and development work in position servo systems for above-mentioned applications. Servo systems have been solved as pulse-train controlled units processing step-changes of input pulse frequencies up to 40 kHz. One-increment sensitivity, infinite static stiffness and perfectly damped transient response are other important features of these units. Servo systems involve electronic circuits for fluent acceleration and deceleration of controlled movements and feedback units performing accurate measuring of output position for all basic applications in NC machine tools.
