A Characterization of Workloads in Datacenters
Aftab, 须成忠, 喻之斌 · 2013
Large-scale datacenter’s workloads are critical for evaluation of job-scheduling policy. However, these workloads have not been previously analyzed and characterized targeting scheduling optimization. In this paper, we characterize a real datacenter’s workloads in depth. We find some important characteristics, such as large variability in job size, job length, random behavior in time intervals, and so on. These findings are critical to optimize workload scheduling policy for improving overall throughput and reducing energy consumption.
