Measuring and correcting for shaking of unstable platform is a problem in engineering, which has a significant effect on instruments' precision. We proposed a measuring and correcting method for unstable platform based on videometrics. Take vehicle-mounted theodolite for instance. Determine nominal state of platform by external datum, and calculate platform's shaking related to nominal state utilizing pose estimation algorithms. Furthermore, correct theodolite's observation error. We develop a measuring and correcting system. The method has been validated by experiments. Experiments' results indicate that: 1) The system's sensitivity exceeds 3″; 2) Correcting error increases with shaking's amplitude, and exceeds 16″ on condition that shaking's amplitude is less than 13′.
