Functioning with a Sticky Model

Robert E. Reys · The Arithmetic Teacher · 1981

Searching for patterns is an integral part of mathematics, and arithmetic provides excellent opportunities for students to look for patterns, make conjectures to continue a pattern, and then to check these predictions. The early study of functions is a natural place to reinforce basic computational skills as well as develop some pattern-finding techniques.
