SCI CD Edition

SCI CD Edition, a new CD-ROM product from the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI), was released in May 1988. This excellent product represents a third version of Science Citation Index, preceded by print and online. This article describes SCI CD Edition in terms of its database structure, program design, searching capabilities, system requirements, availability, and installation. The author focuses on the Related Record (RR), a major new feature, unique to SCI CD Edition. RR identifies related articles by virtue of their common references. This feature enables the user to locate related articles with just a few keystrokes, without reformulating his search.
