Preparing RNMH tutors for P2000

Tony Statham · Nursing Standard · 1993

Nurse tutors in the specialty of learning disabilities are experiencing anxieties about the effect of the introduction of Project 2000, anxieties which are fuelled by speculation over the continued existence of the specialty. This survey, carried out at a time when Project 2000 had been introduced to some colleges and not to others, illustrates the problems and opportunities the new curriculum presented, as perceived by the tutors. The author has continued to canvas colleagues on their reactions to the survey, and offers recommendations for colleges/schools on how best to integrate the skills of these tutors into the common foundation programme
