A human visual “no-reference” image quality measure

We introduce the reader to a no-reference image quality measure. In the structure of this measure, a color pixel difference is utilized to combine the colorfulness and luminance information in a straightforward and efficient manner. Based on this difference measure, a difference maximum filter is used to process the input image and calculate the final quality index. Experimental results and the measure's performance are compared to two existing measures: Color Root Mean Enhancement (CRME) [3] and Blind/Referenceless Image Spatial Quality Evaluator (BRISQUE) [5], and we show how the no-reference measure highly correlates with human vision from the Tampere Image Database 2013 (TID-2013).
