Collaborative Cloud Computing Based on P2P Networks

Francisco de Asís López-Fuentes, Gerardo García-Rodríguez · 2016

Cloud computing is drastically transforming the IT industry during the last years. This recent distributed computing paradigm has altered our perception about computing infrastructures, software delivery and development models. Cloud computing has been quickly adopted worldwide, and several IT resources are offered as services. These services may refer to heavy computation resource, massive storage resources, high-capacity network resources, in order to access data from anywhere at any time. Although, all benefits introduced by cloud computing, this new paradigm still faces several challenges related to heterogeneity, cooperation, privacy, security, robustness, throughput and scalability. All these challenges will introduce new holistic design, cooperative strategies and distribution infrastructures. Distributed infrastructures as P2P networks have emerged as promising solutions for the management and storage all data. This paper reviews P2P cloud storage infrastructures as a possible alternative platform to deploy distributed storage services.
