Internet: Threat or Opportunity for India?

In the light of the spread of the Internet in developing countries, this paper focuses on India. This new technology provides access to the latest information from around the world almost instantly, overcomes problems of lack of library resources and, perhaps, helps prevent educated Indians from migrating abroad. However, problems include poor telecommunications infrastructure, lack of funds, the information and economic gap between India and the developed countries, extent of government control, participatory communication, information flow across the borders, and network security.
