Design and Implementation of a Multimedia Multiuser Call Control Protocol

박승철, 권태경, 최양희 · 1997

Multimedia multiuser applications such as multimedia conference, computer supported cooperative working, tele-education require more complex communication services than the conventional single medium, point-to-point applications. This paper presents the underlying idea, services, and protocol description example of the ACCP(Advanced Call Control Protocol), a multimedia multiuser call control protocol, which is designed to support communication services for the applications more effectively. The ACCP abstracts the underlying communication resources as various types of TC(Trsnaport Connection)s. When a call is established, one or more typed TCs can be selected, and they can be appropriately structured by the application. Since the ACCP is designed independently from the specific TC Types, new TC types can be easily added. The ACCP provides rich set of control services which can be used to control the underlying call according to the dynamics of the application. In this paper, our implementation of the ACCP in an ATM LAN environment and experimental application developement are also briefly introduced.
