A New Technique for Construction of Image Pyramids
Petr Vaněk, Sugata Ghosal · 1995
A systematic graph-theoretic approach to image pyramid generation is proposed in this article that does not assume any specific pixel geometry. It is argued that requirements for construction of image pyramids is very similar to the assumptions of multigrid convergence theory. Smoothed aggregation based basis functions are employed as pyramid generating kernels. Experimental results are shown to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
