Using the Diff Command in Patent Documents

using the Unix command Diff. We previously proposed ways to use Diff in natural language processing. In this contest, we tried handling three problems by using Diff. One is to extract rewriting rules. The second is to align the claims in a patent to the contents of the patent. The third is to extract differences of claims in a patent. We obtained interesting results in the three studies and showed the usefulness of Diff. These results would be useful for reading and writing patents.
