In computer aided assessment (CAA) and automated tutoring the feedback to a submitted solution is very important for the learning outcome of students. It should help them to improve their performances, which means it is designed to go beyond a classi cation into right or wrong. In this paper we consider the domain of mathematics and introduce a general framework that allows to localise mistakes precisely and o ers many options in exercise and feedback design. We present rst experiences with the tool and discuss problems, we would like to work on in the future.
