Selection of views to materialize in data warehouse: A cooperative approach.

In this paper we propose a new approach to solve the problem of selection of views to materialize in data warehouse. Our approach consists in the cooperation of several metaheuristics (Slaves) that work in the solutions space supervised by a metaheuristic (master) that works in the metaheuristics space. The experimental results show that the performance ratio between our algorithm and the optimal algorithm (for a small problem size) is good, and that the approach is scalable. RESUME. Dans ce papier nous proposons une nouvelle approche, pour la resolution du probleme de materialisation des vues dans un entrepot de donnees. Cette approche consiste a faire cooperer plusieurs metaheuristiques (Esclaves) qui travaillent dans l’espace des solutions supervisees par une metaheuristique (Maitre) qui travaille dans l’espace des metaheuristiques. Les resultats experimentaux ont montre que la cooperation des metaheuristiques offre un bon rapport de performance par rapport a un algorithme exact, pour une taille reduite du probleme, et que cette approche est scalable.
