A firewall protects a network from an untrusted network. The traffic is filtered by the firewall considering a secure policy. A firewall is a technique to secure data from the intrusion. As there are many kinds of firewall ideas exist in the domain but most comprehensive and prominent solution is packet filtering based firewall. A packet filter is a mechanism that can be used to select packets from a traffic stream based on some criteria. A firewall is a system designed to prevent unauthorized access from a network. Firewall is also used to prevent unauthorized access internet users from accessing networks connected to the internet. Firewall can be implemented in both hardware and software or a combination of both.
