Due to the bandwidth constraint and the dynamic topology of Mobile Ad Hoc networks (MANET), supporting QoS service is very challenging .Among various approaches proposed so far, Stateless Wireless Ad hoc Network (SWAN) is one of the most promising solutions. SWAN has predefined bandwidth rate (so called admission control rate) for real-time flow to ensure a bounded delay for real time traffic at a cost of possibly lower throughput for best effort traffic. The main goal of this thesis work is to evaluate and analyze the performance of SWAN with different admission conrol rate to see the impact on aggregate real-time throughput , average end-to-end real-time delay and see if this predefined bandwidth rate is optimal . In additon, we also analyze the impact of mobility on throughput performances with different admission control rate , and based on our simulation analysis , we finally present our approach that contribute to enhance SWAN. We also discuss the drawback of SWAN that affect the Qos provision in the network and review currently purposed enhancement to SWAN. We found that neither higher nor lower admisson control rate than originally purposed for real-time traffic show better QoS support in terms of real-time flow and end-to-end real-time delay. As a enhancement to SWAN , we purpose a adaptive rate control scheme in which we defined the targeted per hop delay as the threshold . According to this scheme, if measured bandwidth is not enough , depending on the measured per hop delay , node will either allow more flows or decrease it's current admisson conrol rate.
