An Image Retrieval System Based on MPEG-7 Color and Shape

A new image retrieval system based on MPEG-7 is designed.The main color descriptor is used to extract the color feature of the image,and a region base shape descriptor,the Angular Radial Transform (ART),is used to extract the shape feature of the image.The experiment evaluation criterion used is given by MPEG-7,and image library including flowers,natural scenery and trademark are used to test.The result of the image retrieval system combining two descriptors is superior to that obtained from single feature.
