To support music in DITA-OT and make it better suited for single source publishing,a method to extend DITA-OT is proposed.Through element domain specialization, the elements in MusicXML are recognized by DITA-OT.A special transformation program is developed to perform the specialization. An experiment is carried out where a DITA document containing MusicXML elements is successfully transformed into XHTML and MIDI formats. The result demonstrates the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.
