The realization of LWAPP in AP BOOTROM

Honglin Li · Applied science and technology · 2009

With more WLAN manufacturers shifting to hierarchical design and using lightweight access points to build larger-scale networks, loading the AP application software manually would be a great deal of additional burden for the network resource management, so a standardized way of achieving dynamic loading of the application software with lightweight access points was required on the market. In view of the above question, through the introduction to LWAPP protocol used under the centralized network structure and its operating framework, it was considered that the existing LWAPP protocol could be used to complete the null-configured AP software's dynamic downloading process. Subsequently, in order to really achieve AP software downloading, the operation model of the LWAPP protocol was researched, and its implementation program in AP BOOTROM (U-BOOT environment) was given. Finally, the correctness and reliability of the solution were verified through system test.
